It all started with the Chocobatch.

There are three questions that people always ask me.

  1. Do you still like to eat chocolate ?- Yes of course I do, but that leads to the next one…

  2. Why can you still fit through doors you must eat so much chocolate? - if I ate the amount of chocolate you think I might do, surrounded by it all the time then I would make no profit, be very overweight and also it does loose its treatiness when you have it on tap.

  3. How did you get into chocolate sculpting? - The answer to this one is obviously a longer one but it always starts with the tale of the chocolate Benedict Cumberbatch...lovingly nicknamed ..the Chocobatch .

In 2015, my son Ted started school, I had a bit more time to focus on my career and business. I was running a cake business called She Bakes at the time and was trying to specialise more in chocolate work and was absolutely delighted when an opportunity to work with the amazing team of sculptors and prop makers at Plunge Creations presented itself. After getting the call from them to ask for chocolate assistance in the making of this 6ft high, 44kg heavy, hunk of choco chunk.

Taylor Herring had approached the Brighton based prop company to make them the life-sized chocolate sculpture of Benedict Cumberbatch for UKTV for an Easter promotion. He was to go on display at Westfield Shopping Centre to celebrate the launch of Drama on UKTV’s on demand service.

It took three weeks to make and over 100hrs of chocolate artistry to finish the project. Once erected on his plinth at Westfield it was a pleasure to watch as the public marvelled at his luxurious elegance and rich aroma. Some couldn’t resist his chocolate charms and had a nibble...oopsie!

This was to be the start of a beautifully sweet partnership between Plunge and She Bakes ( shortly after this rebranding as Chocolatician) taking the world of chocolate art by storm!
